Our lives are stories that interconnect. We’re all individuals with different interests and approaches to life—but at the end of the day, most of us just want a sense of peace, fulfillment, and the feeling that we are okay.
It is a privilege to witness someone’s story in therapy, which is why I strive to create a safe space for clients to tackle big questions and answers in pursuit of the life they want to live. Through the counseling process, I have seen firsthand that meaningful and lasting change is possible.
After years of working in a variety of mental health settings, including clinics and hospitals, my wife, Sarah, and I established SideDoor Counseling to offer direct support to individuals and couples from a diverse array of backgrounds. Given my years of experience working on a multifaceted team, I value differing perspectives and specializations, and I collaborate with other providers as needed to offer comprehensive, holistic care.
I also maintain a personal and professional understanding of the challenges that my clients face. Specializing in anxiety, burnout, and stress, my goal is to educate clients on how their brains work and how to get untangled from the grip of worry and self-doubt. And as a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I operate my practice with inclusion and compassion.
I know that with an increasingly busy life comes opportunities that, while sometimes exciting, require more than what we can give at the moment. Our mental resources can’t always sustain constant outward attention and energy, and without the right tools in place, this can quickly become overwhelming.
As a therapist specializing in anxiety, I use a variety of approaches and collaborate with clients to individualize the counseling experience. My personal and professional philosophy is very much grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which recognizes the challenges of living with difficult thoughts and feelings while also promoting essential skills and growth.
ACT teaches you awareness and nurtures the freedom to live with flexibility. Its philosophy centers around compassion, being present, and taking meaningful actions rooted in what actually matters, which is what we will work toward together in counseling.
I love what I do, and I aim to be a supportive presence in therapy through open, honest, and direct dialogue. I am curious about what living with less anxiety looks like for you and how we can create actionable, achievable steps toward that life.
Some of my great joys are in connecting with new people and trying new things. In addition to traveling and being with friends and family, I spend my free time reading, cooking, and taking photos. I love being around water, whether that means being on the beach or doing the dishes by hand! I find that water brings me calm, clarity, and inspiration for some of my best ideas.
Let’s work together to sort through challenges, explore meaning, and build your resources. Actionable change is within reach, and it begins with counseling.
